Get Your PAC Code
This is a special 9-digit Porting Authorisation Code from your current mobile network provider, which is essential for Vodafone to take over your number. The quickest and easiest way to obtain it is by texting “PAC” to 65075 from the phone number you intend to keep. This code is valid for 30 days.
Order and Activate New Vodafone Service
First, choose and order your desired Vodafone plan, whether it’s a SIM-only deal or a new phone with a contract. Once your new Vodafone SIM card arrives, follow the instructions provided to activate it. You will initially be assigned a temporary new Vodafone number.
Submit Your PAC Code to Vodafone
This is the critical step where you authorize the number transfer. After your new Vodafone SIM is active, you need to inform Vodafone of your PAC code. The most straightforward method is to fill out Vodafone’s dedicated online number transfer form on their website, providing your PAC code, your old phone number, and details of your new Vodafone SIM.
Wait for the Transfer to Complete
Number transfers typically process within 1 to 2 working days (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays) after Vodafone receives your PAC code. There may be a brief period (from a few minutes to a few hours) when your old SIM loses service and your new Vodafone SIM isn’t yet fully linked to your old number.
Restart Your Phone (with New SIM)
Once you notice that your old SIM card no longer has service or you receive a confirmation notification from Vodafone, it’s time to make the switch. Insert your new Vodafone SIM card into your phone and then restart it. Your original phone number should now be fully active on your new Vodafone service, and your previous account will automatically be closed.
